FARCLIMATE

Moving ForwARd to achieving CLIMATE-resilient and sustainable European regional economic systems

Programme
Horizon Europe
Grant Agreement No.
101112860
Duration
2024-2027

FARCLIMATE aims to tackle the pressing challenges of developing and promoting climate-resilient strategies that are accessible and understandable for all. It also addresses the social, political, and economic barriers commonly encountered. The initiative will be carried out across at least 20 regions and communities in Europe, using case studies to implement transformative solutions for climate resilience.

To meet these goals, FARCLIMATE has structured its work program as follows:

  1. Engage relevant stakeholders in each region and establish governance and management mechanisms;
  1. Create Living Labs for co-creation, testing, and scaling up innovative activities in real-life settings;
  1. Conduct in-depth research on value chains, socioeconomic and environmental factors, and existing economic sectors through monitoring indicators in all studied regions;
  1. Implement cross-cutting actions in all case studies, including custom training to empower communities, focusing on climate change and associated risks;
  1. Develop innovative and socially viable solutions for agriculture, forestry, and fisheries to boost their adaptability to climate change, with nature-based solutions being a central focus;
  1. Produce tools to share insights, identify challenges, and highlight successful outcomes, such as policy recommendations, guidelines, management plans, and the Transformation Hub.

ENoLL leads Work Package on “Case Studies Development and Stakeholder Interaction,” with objectives that include defining guidelines for identifying and establishing case studies, outlining their scope and participants in the value chain, and providing the foundation to unlock the potential for climate change adaptation in the regions. This work is supported by ENoLL members LAUREA and CERTH, who are instrumental in sharing successful implementation of the Living Lab methodology and providing coaching for aspiring Living Labs. Additionally, ENoLL is developing the conceptual and methodological framework for implementing Living Labs in all communities. As part of FARCLIMATE, ENoLL acts as a trainer, guiding case studies to become Living Labs and advancing their maturity toward certification in the Living Lab approach.

ENoLL also supports work on “Transversal Solutions: Training and Empowerment for Communities,” which focuses on delivering training for the FARCLIMATE community. ENoLL plays a crucial role in adapting the FARCLIMATE methodology into learning materials and providing training for the communities. Educational videos on Living Labs will be developed and publicly shared.

In addition, ENoLL is helping to shape the roadmap for political strategies and decision-making. This includes reviewing policy recommendations and defining connected actions for EU adaptation strategies.
